fireworks

Lighting a fuse takes very little time and it produces a beautiful and creative result.

Here are 3 steps to lighting a fuse before starting your next project:

1.) Brainstorm – Take a pen and some paper and write down words associated with your design/product/business. Draw sketches of random objects while listening to your favorite music to get the brain juice flowing. Try to look at your project from all angles and point’s-of-view.

2.) Read – Go to your local bookstore and grab some books. Scan books about art, photography, architecture, graffiti, sewing, tattoos.  Make sure to bring your pen and paper to capture any ideas before they get away.

3.) Explore – Go to a store you’ve never been to before. Eat something different. Read articles on things you know absolutely nothing about. Expand your boundaries.

As is true with fireworks, you will occasionally light a fuse, wait a while, only to discover that you have a dud. But don’t let that discourage you from trying again until you find that creative spark.

Light a fuse.
